Questions

Questions people ask us

How much does a Shopify store cost to build?
A theme-based store with standard functionality is at one end and a custom build with trade pricing and several integrations is at the other. Add the monthly plan, the apps and the payment processing to get the number that actually matters.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
Usually not. Plus is worth it when the checkout genuinely has to work differently, which standard plans do not allow, or when your volume makes the fee smaller than what you are spending on apps and workarounds. It is not worth it because it sounds more serious.
What will Shopify actually cost us each month?
More than the plan price. If you use a gateway other than Shopify Payments there is an extra fee on every order, and a store with trade pricing, subscriptions and custom shipping can easily carry eight apps. We size that with you before you commit.
Can you connect Shopify to our accounting and stock systems?
Yes, and it is a good part of what we do. The ready-made connections handle straightforward orders well. The work we get called in for is the exceptions: partial refunds, split shipments, backorders and trade accounts on different terms.
Can Shopify handle wholesale or trade pricing?
It can, up to a point, and that point has moved as Shopify has improved its trade features. Check them against your actual pricing rules before assuming. If you would need three apps to make it work, look at alternatives.
Can you migrate my store to Shopify?
Yes. Products and customers come across reasonably well, order history is harder, and passwords never transfer so every customer resets. The expensive part is the URLs, which change structure between platforms.
Do you build custom Shopify themes?
Yes, and we will also tell you when a well-chosen theme with some modification will get you ninety percent of the way for a fraction of the cost. That is the right answer more often than not.
When should I move off Shopify to something custom?
Rarely, and only when your business model genuinely does not fit a cart. Complex per-customer contract pricing across a large catalogue, or deep integration where another system owns pricing, are the real cases. Wanting more control is not one.
